| Lucky Dog had an exciting experience in late November. Tanga, a yellow lab from our Lady's first litter in 2008, graduated from the Hearing & Service Dog program and is now a working service dog with her person doing double duty as a mobility and hearing assistance dog. We donated three more puppies out of Lady's 2009 litter who we hope are on their way to doing just as well as their big sister. Congratulations Tanga and Deb. |
| Congratulations to my fall therapy class; 8 out of 10 students passed evaluations, with a couple retesting later this month. I look forward to having more safe, registered teams visiting our local nursing homes, hospitals, and libraries. Thank you to Emmanuel Nursing Home for once again hosting evaluations and making it a wonderful experience. |
| A special thank you to two volunteers, Carissa Markuson and Shawna King, who are making a difference this holiday season. Both ladies took the initiative to decorate trees for the Festival of Trees in Frazee and at the Mall in Detroit Lakes in an effort to raise awareness of the work we do with the 5 city pounds and the Adopt a Pet program. Thank you very much ladies and to the respective organizations for allowing us to get the word out. |
| Congratulations to Lauren Pederson and Jet the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever for their weekend at the UKC dog show. Once again, they were a good team and took one second and three third place finishes at the show. |
| Congratulations to Alisa Wold and Buzz the golden retriever for going Winners Dog at the St. Cloud AKC dog show for a total of 4 points this last weekend. Way to go Buzz, well on your way to a champion title! Congratulations to Sherri Ullrich and the corgi girls, and Corri Ullrich Berg with her Labrador girls for their first place class finishes. Mary and Mandy the bull terrier had a good time winning breed in their class of one :) and going to group, but we have more awesome news. Kim Turner and Fiona the bulldog took Best in Breed not one, but both days! Congratulations Kim and Fiona-this was their first time taking breed and going to group! |

July 25, 2009 - 4H: Congratulations to all of our 4H youth who competed in their county show here at Lucky Dog.
4H'ers have worked very hard with their dogs all summer and several earned state fair trips. It was great for Linda and Mary to see the improvement in manners and skills during classes and the working relationship develop between the 4h'ers and dogs.
Thank you to the parents who have been the taxi cabs and teachers at home, Linda and Mickey at the extension office for all their support and assistance, Karl Johnson, our judge, and all the countless other volunteers who make our program happen every year. |
| July 18 - 19, 2009 Bemidji Show: Congratulations to Mitzi Brunsdale and Drake the black labrador retriever (Mary got to show him in Fargo in conformation, but now he gets to do his first love!) on two beautiful passes to finish his Junior Hunter title. |
| July 17 - 19, 2009 Fargo, Red River of the North: Linda Wiedewitsch and Amos the yellow labrador retriever finished their Rally Excellent title at the Red River of the North AKC Obedience Trial.
Luanne Thorsvig and Ripley had a great first time out with two qualifying scores (and good scores!) in Rally Novice, and Allyson got another leg towards her CD title. |

| Cambridge show..Bean was in the 9-12mo bitch class and got 2nd place on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday. I am happy with how it went-she did really well except on Sunday, She decided to lay down and roll onto her back when the judge was looking at her!! She is such a "Bean"..haha

May 30 - 31, 2009 - Fargo Moorhead Dog Show - Kim Turner and Bean the wrinkly bulldog did wonderful, winning their puppy class but losing to some stiff competition over the weekend. (A bulldog made it to best of show on Saturday, so that means it was tough competition!) |

- May 30 - 31, 2009 - Fargo Moorhead Dog Show - The Chesapeaks had a good weekend. Congratulations to owner Jared Smith for showing Mountain this weekend on Saturday and Sunday and taking her puppy class.
- Our two 4H'ers Lauren Pederson and Megan Wold had a great weekend. Lauren placed second in her Senior Novice with Foxy the Pomeranian both days and Megan and Gretchen the Golden Retriever also placed second in Intermediate Novice both days.

Alisa Wold and the golden crew did well, Sassy their younger female took her class on Saturday, and Buzz made wonderful strides in his ability in the ring all weekend. They were against stiff competition as a golden placed as Best of Show on Saturday!
- Mary and Drake the black lab had a good weekend. Drake has never been in conformation before and has done a wonderful job learning how to perform in the ring. Drake was up against stiff competition, so he did not place, but we are very proud of his progress in a short time. Thank you to owner Mitzi Brunsdale for the opportunity to work with Drake and to get to know him!
- Thank you to Rich and Gail Scheffer for the opportunity to show Ch Ches-Shores Gunsmoke'n Kelly to a Best of Opposite on Friday and Best of Breed on Saturday!
- Thank you to Kim Disse, our daycare attendant and good friend for helping with showing on Saturday, and Nora and Emma Ulmer for assisting with showing on Sunday!
